Nations to Consider More N. Korea Sanctions, US Warns on Military Option

Tillerson Signals Deeper US Military Commitment in Syria

After days of talks, the two nations have agreed to march together during the opening ceremony under a unified flag.

During that meeting, North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un said he's open to North Korea participating in the 2018 Winter Olympics, which will be hosted in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The talk happens one month prior to the Winter Olympics held in Pyeongchang, South Korea regarding the situation and unity of the two countries.

North and South Korean athletes will to walk together under a special united Korea flag during the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

The Pyeongchang Winter Olympics will be the first time in 11 years that the Unification flag will be used at an official sporting event.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has refused to give up development of nuclear missiles capable of hitting the USA, in spite of increasingly severe UN sanctions, raising fears of a new war on the Korean peninsula.

Based on the agreements reached during recent inter-Korean working-level talks, the 16-day games will see the largest ever delegation from North Korea, excluding athletes.

As things stand, the North looks set to send a delegation of over 400 athletes, officials and performers to the South via their land border in order to avoid sea route restrictions. The North regularly threatens to destroy the South, Japan and their major ally, the United States.

The two Koreas have joined forces at other global sports events before.

Toronto police say scissor attack on a girl's hijab 'did not happen'
It seems fair to ask where an 11-year-old got the idea that she would be the target of such an attack. The girl made headlines last week after she said a man came up to her and tried to cut her hijab off.

The announcement had Dix Hills resident Suzi Kang and other Korean-Americans on the Island thinking about the possibility of peace between the North and the South.

"I believe that North Korea wants to buy some time to continue their nuclear and missile programs", Kono said.

Yet he also delivered a warning to China and Russian Federation, neither of which were invited to participate in the Vancouver meeting, and both of which have been accused of helping Kim Jong-Un's regime skirt worldwide sanctions.

The only North Korean athletes so far to have qualified for the games are a pair's figure skating team.

"The North side revealed its plan to send a 230-member cheering squad to South Korea", the ministry said.

The potential move has garnered the support of South Korea president Moon Jae-in, who said during a meeting with his country's athletes on Wednesday that a joint hockey team would be a historic event that moves the hearts of people around the world.

North and South Korea are still technically at war with each other, as the 1950-53 conflict between the two states ended in a truce, not peace.

"If Kim Yo Jong were to come, it'll be the first time for any Kim family member to visit South Korea", said Shin Beomchul, a professor at Korea National Diplomatic Academy in Seoul. The name displayed during the marches was "Korea", although the North and South competed separately for medals.
