The Flu may be spread just by breathing

"Unilaterally, everyone's saying we're seeing a spike starting around the holidays. We've not seen any cases yet but it can be pretty similar to how humans get with the flu". Doctors warn flu tests can give a false-negative result, so people should rely more on intuition than anything. There was a slight increase in patients around the holidays that has since petered out. That puts the region in step with 49 of the 50 states that have residents with flu from border to border. Nothing that has overwhelmed us by any means, but we see a little bit every day.

"I think the simplest way to describe it is that the flu is everywhere in the U.S. right now", Dr. Dan Jernigan, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control's Influenza Division, said.

Still, the CDC recommends that all people over the age of five get the shot to reduce the symptoms of the virus.

"This is the first time in history where the entire continental United States has been impacted by the flu", said Spokesperson for Stratus Building Solutions Graham Chapman. There isn't a reliable death toll yet, but California alone reports 42 deaths so far.

Flu season is in full swing and according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) it is now considered an epidemic in Oklahoma.

Influenza monitoring at the state Department of Health shows this season's number of positive flu cases - 3,189 between October 7 and January 13 - is a 44 percent increase over the number of cases at this point previous year.

Several nearby boaters confirmed TMZ's report that the pitcher's plane was "dramatically increasing and decreasing in elevation". During his time in Major League Baseball , he won the Cy Young Award twice and pitched a no-hitter in the 2010 playoffs.

"Influenza is a potentially deadly disease, and getting vaccinated is the best thing New Yorkers can do to protect themselves and those around them, followed by good hand hygiene", said state Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker. "Don't try and tough it out".

To examine this, the researchers enrolled 142 people who were confirmed to be sick with the flu in their study, and had the participants sit in a machine that could capture the flu viruses in their breath. He said the latest outbreak is among middle-aged folks, which can cause some of its own problems.

AtlantiCare officials reported last week that emergency departments, satellite locations and other offices had also noticed an increase in patient volume, especially in the last couple weeks. Flu is a serious illness that leaves the sufferer bedridden with very intense symptoms, and being able to continue day-to-day activities is highly unlikely. "It's not flawless and it's not 100% effective, but it's the best thing we have", she says, "and the flu vaccine is one of the safest, most vetted and most studied vaccinations there is". But Australia's experience suggests effectiveness was only about 10 percent. A second wave of influenza B will likely still circulate after this strain dies down.

Influenza can cause mild to severe illness.

Because elderly people are so vulnerable to the flu, some nursing homes and assisted-living facilities may limit visitors and resident activities, depending on the level of illness. Unlike many other vaccines that are only given a few times over the course of a person's life, flu shots must be given once a year.
