Agnes, who joined the company almost 30 years ago, was long based at Quiksilver's European headquarters in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, just south of Biarritz.

The search continued on Wednesday for the chief executive of surfing brand Quiksilver after his empty boat washed up on a beach in southwest France.

After he set off early Tuesday, he sent a message to port authorities saying his return would be delayed because of thick fog, the Guardian reports. Later in the morning his boat was recovered on the beach near his hometown and Pierre has not been heard from since.

Pierre Agnès has been working for Quiksilver since 1998.
