ICC launches investigation over 'irregular activities' in private UAE league

Disgraced former Pakistan cricket captain Salman Butt may possibly face a punishment after participating in the unsanctioned Ajman All Stars T20 League that is the subject of an International Cricket Council (ICC) investigation into possible match-fixing.

The Ajman All Stars T20 clash between Dubai Star and Sharjah Warriors saw the Star crash all out for 46 in response to the Warriors' total of 136. The league, privately sanctioned by the UAE Cricket Board, was shut down after just two days as UAE officials blocked any further cricket action at the Ajman Oval.

The International Cricket Council have officially announced they will be beginning investigations into some suspected "irregular activies" in a private UAE cricket league.

If you've ever played cricket you might stand a chance of being player of the tournament.

Vaughan attached a video to his tweet "This is unbelievable" which appeared to show a number of batsmen doing their best get out.

One batsman charged down the wicket to a spinner, left the ball outside off stump and then made zero effort to get back into his crease. The game has given cricket another black-eye in the war it is losing against corruption and match-fixing.

"I think also at high-level, worldwide cricket level, the member countries and the ICC board need to make sure that any sort of proliferation of domestic T20 leagues is tightly controlled - particularly around professional players", he said. I am happy the ICC is investigating the event because there were a lot of flaws in it.

The Ajman Cricket Council (ACC) has suspended all matches at the Ajman Oval.

The ICC has called in their anti-corruption unit for a closer look.
