Hackers and security researchers could use it to find vulnerabilities in the iOS operating system or make jailbreaking iOS devices easier.

The codes in question pertain to the "iBoot" process of iOS.

"Apple isn't prone to open-sourcing its code so most understanding of iOS" internals has been acquired through reverse-engineering attempts.

The code indicated that it was taken from iOS 9 butt experts say there are portions of it that are still likely to be used in the newest operating system, iOS 11.

Some iOS source code got leaked at GitHub raising possible security or hacking concerns with devices now in use. In summary, it is the program that loads iOS, and is the first program that runs when an iOS device is booted up. It was public on the site for a short while until Apple submitted a DMCA takedown request, which was accepted by GitHub.

iBoot is the one component Apple has been holding on to, still encrypting its 64-bit image. now it's wide open in source code form. Github was quick to comply with the request, and removed the iOS source code post from the repository of the user.

(Web Desk) - Apple confirmed that some of the source code of its iPhone operation system (OS) was leaked and shared on third-party website Github.

Since most of the iPhone users are now using iOS 10 or above, the source code breach of iOS 9 will not do any harm to the majority of the people.

"But Apple should be anxious because if somebody has got hold of that, what else have they got?"

The original Apple employee did not respond to our request for comment and said through his friend that he did not now want to talk about it because he signed a non-disclosure agreement with Apple. In any case, Apple will have enough time to secure things up and might issue a patch to cover any risks posed by the leak. The leaked code contained information on the iPhone's boot up process and its security measures.

Only time will tell whether or not something will come from the leak many tech professionals are calling "the biggest leak in history".

It is not known who has leaked the source code, but there is sure to be investigation at Apple HQ.
