Rachel Brand, The Third-Ranking Justice Department Official, Is Stepping Down

Attorney General Jeff Sessions accompanied by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand, listen to the national anthem during the opening ceremony of the summit on Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking at the Department of Justice in Washington, Feb. 2, 2018.

The most senior woman at the department of justice has resigned after nine months in the job, at a time when President Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked the department. "She will always remain part of the Department of Justice family". A source said she was going to work as an executive at retailer Walmart. "I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish over my time here".

Sessions applauded Brand for her service to the DOJ, calling her 'a lawyer's lawyer. According to CBS News, the department says the associate attorney general will be leaving "in the coming weeks". At that event, Mr. Sessions thanked her for her "strong leadership as our third in command at the department". Her resignation comes at a moment of intense political scrutiny for the department, including some harsh criticism from President Trump. His broadsides have strained morale at the institution known for its vaunted independence from the White House.

Rachel Brand is stepping down from her third-ranking role in the Justice Department.

In the line of succession, Brand has been behind Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. If Rosenstein had been fired or quit, oversight would have fallen to Brand.

The Board of Wynn Resorts Needs to Go, Too
The Chinese territory is particularly significant for Wynn Resorts , accounting for the large majority of its revenue and profits. Tightening the gaze, stock performance for the last 5 trading days is -4.77%.

The attacks have escalated as Republicans in Congress criticised the handling by the Justice Department, FBI and Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court of warrants for surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page, who had ties to Russian Federation.

Brand has kept largely a low profile - known primarily pushing for the renewal of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

She supervised the department's civil, antitrust and environmental divisions, among others.

Brand recently pushed Congress to renew a foreign intelligence surveillance program that gives the U.S. government authority to spy on foreigners located outside the country. It's unclear who will replace her. She is leaving for an attractive offer in the private sector, according to the person.

'It really seems to have her name on it'.
