Schneiderman filed suit against The Weinstein Company, Harvey Weinstein and Robert Weinstein for egregious violations of New York's civil rights, human rights and business laws. It targets Harvey Weinstein for allegations of sexual misconduct.

State attorney general Eric Schneiderman said the lawsuit was filed in New York County Supreme Court and included new allegations about Weinstein's "vicious and exploitative mistreatment" of employees.

While the attorney general's investigation continues, the suit has been filed because Schneiderman's office is concerned that the sale of The Weinstein Company would leave victims without a way to get compensation for possible wrongdoing.

The lawsuit alleges that Weinstein sexually harassed employees and abused women for years.

Cornell frat put on probation for sex contest
The "roast" was uncovered after Cornell's Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life (OSFL) investigated misconduct reports from 2017. Zeta Beta Tau members were informed of the contest in December prior to a review board hearing.

"Every New Yorker has a right to a workplace free of sexual harassment, intimidation, and fear", the statement added. Weinstein's drivers in both New York City and Los Angeles were required to keep condoms and erectile dysfunction injections in the vehicle at all times, according to the NY attorney general's complaint.

Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cara Delevingne are among the high-profile women who have made various claims of sexual harassment, assault, and rape by Weinstein towards them; Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.

Schneiderman's investigation reportedly discovered instances of Weinstein making death threats to workers while touting his connection to political influencers.

In one example, an assistant wrote an email complaint to human resources regarding Weinstein's behavior only to find it forwarded directly to him via email minutes later, according to the suit.
