You might find several rental units in the same building, or of the same configuration, all by the same host. that's nearly like a kind of faux hotel system, but this will offer an opportunity for Airbnb hosts to differentiate themselves for users that are looking for something more specific. There'll be the guarantee of an in-person greeting or a lockbox or keypad for entry, and travelers will get access to a special team of Airbnb Plus customer service and the promise of swifter responses.

Airbnb, which first launched in August 2008, has hosted over 300 million guest arrivals in its ten years existence. "But we want to go further by supporting and expanding our community so that in 10 years' time, more than 1 billion people per year will experience the benefits of magical travel on Airbnb", Chesky said.

He also announced the creation of a new store for Superhosts, which would give them exclusive pricing on smart home devices.

Users now have the choice of three property types - shared space, private room and entire home.

If you are at all uneasy about the proposition of staying in a stranger's house, Airbnb Plus should help quell some of those concerns.

Places that qualify for Plus will receive higher placement within Airbnb's internal search rankings, plus premium customer support options and a host of additional bonuses to make application more appealing for high-ranked property owners.

From today, hosts would also be able to sort their listings even more specifically with "thousands" of new categories - for example, "rustic", "artist", "balcony" or even "igloo".

Airbnb co-founder Nathan Blecharczyk has big plans for its new Airbnb Plus program.

Airbnb reveals new hotel-like service called Airbnb Plus

Plus offers the cream of the crop when it comes to what Airbnb has on offer.

To ensure the quality of listings in these Collections, those featured have a minimum 4.8 star rating.

Airbnb Plus is just one of several new features announced today.

Airbnb Plus is available for booking, beginning with 2,000 homes in 13 cities.

Guests can therefore have a peace of mind that these listings are guaranteed to be of excellent quality.

New Airbnb Collections will offer unique home collections created to match the most popular types of trips travelers are searching for-like, family trips, group getaways and honeymoons.

Airbnb hosts must apply to be part of the program, and a photographer and inspector are then sent to the home to capture professional-quality photographs and inspect the property to see if it meets Airbnb's new 100-point quality checklist.

Airbnb definitely revealed a number of rather significant updates to their current model, and personally, I'm excited about what the guest membership programme could bring!

Winter Olympics: Why did Elizabeth Swaney run the halfpipe without tricks?
Swaney was born and raised in the United States but qualified to represent Hungary through her maternal grandparents. Plenty of other skiers who just missed the cut and are forced to watch from home likely aren't amused, either.
