Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact Smartphones With 18:9 Displays Leaked

Sony's new flagships ditch an aging design for full screens

Sony's new flagships ditch an aging design for full screens

Some say the teaser is hinting at a curved screen smartphone while others say it has something to do with an audio feature. That's no "Infinity Display" Sony has in the pipeline, but without a doubt, the 5.7-inch XZ2 will offer the Xperia family's largest screen-to-body ratio yet. The devices will be also come with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The sides of the phone are now rounded out, a minor change from the square design we see on Sony phones. The fingerprint sensor has also moved to the back, similar to what we saw in the L2/XA2/XA2 Ultra leaks.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 features 3D glass on both the front and back with aluminium frames which makes it glossy, whereas, the XZ2 Compact comes with a "non-scratch" polycarbonate finish at the back.

Talking about the camera capabilities; Sony is known for excelling in this department and the upcoming smartphones are unlikely to mark a shift.

These phones will also be equipped with a Snapdragon 845, the 19-megapixel rear-facing camera we previously saw in the XZ Premium, and S Force stereo speakers for both phones.

It is worth mentioning that some reports in the past indicated the presence of a dual-camera module on the XZ2. They should both be water and dust-resistant as well, but only the XZ2 is tipped to support wireless charging and a "haptic feedback system that syncs up vibrations to the sound".

Controversial-turned- official Trudeau's India visit, Watch Finally Modi hugged PM Trudeau
The Canadian Prime Minister has been under pressure throughout his tour to answer Indian concerns about Sikh separatism in Canada. Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly received Trudeau, along with his wife Sophie and children Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien.

The Xperia XZ2 (pictured above and below) and XZ2 Compact do indeed look like a bit of a departure from past Sony-branded handsets, even if they don't necessarily adopt a wildly different overall design. The two phones will have reduced bezels on top and bottom, and will run Android 8.0 Oreo. This feature will be absent on the Compact version. According to Venture Beat, the company will be unveiling the Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones on January 26th at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

As you can see, both these smartphones are boasting a display that has an aspect ratio of 18:9.

As the name suggests, the Pro model will also be priced higher than the other two models.

We have been seeing smartphone manufacturers switching to a modern, "bezel-less" design since past year.
