"The rights of the Russian Olympic Committee have been fully restored", said Alexander Zhukov, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

Despite the IOC suspending Russia's membership in December for doping violations, there were still Russian athletes in Pyeongchang, winning Olympic medals for their country.

All had been required to prove they were clean before the event started but their curler Aleksandr Krushelnitckii was forced to return his bronze medal after failing a drug test along with the bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva.

"The final notification of all remaining test results from the Olympic Athlete from Russia (OAR) delegation has been received", the IOC said in a statement on Wednesday.

'The IOC can confirm that all the remaining results are negative.

Russian Federation also complied with financial sanctions by paying $15 million for the IOC's two investigations into the scheme and toward future anti-doping work.

"For us today's decision by the International Olympic Committee is very important".

The ROC also paid a fine of $15 million as part of its efforts to have the Olympic ban lifted, although Russian officials have repeatedly denied state involvement in doping.

WADA's Foundation Board in November approved the recommendation of its Compliance Review Committee not to reinstate RUSADA, although it partially lifted the ban against the Russian organization, citing progress it had made and allowing it again to collect samples for testing.

Russia's Olympic suspension has been lifted with immediate effect by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

He referred to members of the Russian ice hockey team performing the national anthem after receiving the Olympic gold, saying he would like to thank them for their patriotism.

Russian Federation topped the medals table after the Games - but lost that position when athlete after athlete was disqualified following the retesting of samples.

The IOC banned Russian Federation from the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang this month due to allegations of state-sponsored doping.

Just days after the conclusion of the 2018 Winter Games, Russia has been reinstated to the Olympic movement.
