Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman landed in the Egyptian capital on Sunday at the start of his first foreign tour as heir to the throne.

Bin Salman's three-day visit to Cairo coincides with the signing of economic agreements between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, according to Egyptian media.

Saturday's decision by the Egypt Supreme Court nullifies the contradictory rulings two other lower courts had given, with the Supreme Administrative Court opposing ceding control of the islands and the Court of Urgent Matters approving the deal.

Sisi ratified the deal past year, and Egypt's top court annulled lower court rulings for and against the treaty on the eve of the crown prince's arrival.

In response to the Egyptians who opposed the deal, the Egyptian leadership repeatedly said the two islands were originally Saudi but leased to Egypt in the 1950s. On the other hand, 42 percent said they don't know.

Egypt and Saudi have strengthened ties since Sisi took power after ousting the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi reached a deal on Sunday with visiting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on joint efforts to face divisive regional interventions. In June, the two regional heavyweights joined allies the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain in a coalition against Qatar, the tiny but energy-rich nation they accuse of supporting militant groups and being too close to Iran.

Sisi stands for re-election this month in a vote he is nearly guaranteed to win after all serious challengers dropped out, including a rights lawyer who shot to fame after successfully challenging the islands deal in court.
