Trump hails "great progress" after agreeing to talks with North Korea

President Donald Trump has agreed to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by May to negotiate an end of Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.

If Trump meets with Kim, he would become the first USA president to ever meet with a North Korean leader while in office.

Explaining Trump's decision-making about the meeting, Tillerson said that the USA had witnessed a shift from North Korea that became apparent when a South Korean delegation visited Pyongyang, then traveled to Washington to brief US officials on the rare meeting. His more bellicose talk, and Kim's nuclear and missile tests, have fueled fears of war.

The White House said the historic diplomatic meeting between the powerful leaders would take place, but wouldn't reveal when or where.

U.S. News and World Report annually compiles a ranking of states that incorporates 75 different factors, including higher education. For the first time since he assumed power, Kim personally hosted a dinner for the delegation.

South Korea's liberal government appears eager to cooperate with North Korea which forces President Donald Trump to work with South Korea, says a national defense analyst.

The genre-defying " Get Out ", certainly the most timely of the films up for Best Picture, also scored four nominations. "Thanks, lowest rated President in HISTORY", he tweeted , matching Trump's unusual capitalization rules.

Trump had previously said he was willing to meet Kim under the right circumstances but had indicated the time was not right for such talks.

"Agreeing to a summit without a clear process, a plan and a set of preliminary talks that set the stage for success-and then sending Trump into this environment-is a huge gamble".

South Korean National Security Director Chung Eui-yong (C) makes a statement regarding his 07 March meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. On November 29 previous year, the North Korean leader said that his country had achieved full nuclear statehood after what he said was the successful test of a new missile capable of striking anywhere in the United States. He says Kim's invitation to Trump is a hopeful sign.

China is North Korea's most important ally and trading partner, although it has agreed to increasingly harsh United Nations economic sanctions in a bid to steer the North back to talks. "In the meantime, all sanctions and maximum pressure must remain".

"In the president's judgment, that time has arrived now", the secretary of state said. The tension started to ease in the recently concluded Winter Olympics in Pyongyang. "Need to keep up pressure alongside engagement".

On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged the United States and the DPRK to hold talks sooner rather than later.
