Hearthstone kicks off the Year of the Raven with The Witchwood expansion

Hearthstone® Players Can Unleash Their Inner Beast in Upcoming Expansion The Witchwood™

Witchwood card packs will be winnable in Hearthstone's Arena mode, and players can purchase them with in-game gold or real money at the same prices as Hearthstone's other card packs. But The Witchwood is taking a lot of the best ideas from those sets - notably the Hero Cards and Dungeon Runs - and expanding them.

A new Hagatha card, which Blizzard chose to leave as a mystery for the time!

Deceptively simple in design but epically engaging, Hearthstone will be instantly accessible to players regardless of their familiarity with Warcraft or collectible card games.

As with most major Hearthstone expansions, The Witchwood will add two new core mechanics to the card game: Echo and Rush.

As you can see in the trailer above, this new expansion will come with a bunch of new cards to play with - 135 in all.

An announcement video, which features a musical number and a preview of Witchwood cards from the development team, can be viewed below.

The Witchwood is Hearthstone's next expansion, adds a new single-player mode

Based on Blizzard's release schedule, we know that a new Hearthstone expansion was in the works, and the good news for Hearthstone players is that it looks like the new expansion has since been officially announced.

The set also introduces the new Echo keyword. There will also be legendary minions that power up your Hero Power providing you build a deck containing only even or odd cost cards.

In The Witchwood's exhilarating single-player mode, Monster Hunt, Gilneas' greatest heroes are called to cleanse the forest of this darkness. "Each time, it'll add a ghostly copy of the card back to your hand that disappears at the end of your turn". To follow this theme, at least one of the new cards will change in your hand every turn.

Rush: a weaker version of Charge, the minion can attack the turn it is summoned, however only other minions. Starting today and up until the expansion is released, allies of Gilneas can pre-purchase The Witchwood card packs in a special 50-pack bundle that also includes 20 bonus packs, as well as the "In a Dark Wood" card back for free.

Looks like the Rogue Death Knight, Valeera the Hollow's Hero Power, only for a single card.

The expansion will also add a new Monster Hunt mode to the action, similar to Kobolds & Catacombs' Dungeon Run, that challenges players with a series of eight increasingly hard encounters leading into a big boss fight.
