For the retrial, a judge has ruled that jurors can hear from five additional accusers, giving prosecutors a chance to portray Cosby as a serial predator.

Judge Steven O'Neill said the defence can call a witness who says Cosby's accuser talked about framing a celebrity before she lodged sexual abuse allegations against Cosby in 2005.

Jackson's testimony is crucial to a defense plan to portray Constand as a greedy liar. Testimony from Marguerite Jackson will be offered as proof of Constand's motives for targeting Cosby.

At the first trial, O'Neill barred Jackson from testifying after Constand denied knowing her.

The Cosby jury will consist of 12 jurors and six alternates, all of whom will be sequestered in a local hotel as the first panel was. He said he wouldn't rule on that until it was brought up at the retrial. The judge has yet to make other rulings in the case, including whether jurors will hear portions of Cosby's deposition from the lawsuit with Constand in which he admits that he has obtained Quaaludes with the intention of using them to seduce women. More than 40 women have accused the 80 year old entertainer of sexual assault. But they say they haven't formed an opinion and can serve as fair and impartial jurors. Juror Bobby Dugan said he wanted to convict Cosby on two of the three counts he faces, based on Cosby's own past statements, not because of the testimony of either woman.

Comedian Bill Cosby has arrived for the first day of jury selection in his retrial on sexual assault charges.

Bill Cosby exits with his lawyer Tom Mesereau (left) following a pretrial hearing for his sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pa., on March 5. Of the 120 brought into the courtroom Monday, 110 noted they had knowledge of the allegations against Cosby, and 68 indicated they had already decided on his innocence or guilt.

That leaves just 28 people invited back for individual questioning on Tuesday as prosecutors and Cosby's lawyers work to fill 17 remaining jury spots.

Rescue operations are underway in the area and police personnel are attempting to pull out those feared trapped under the rubbles. The incident happened almost a month after a two-storey building was collapsed in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district.

While the jury in the first trial came from Allegheny County, on the other side of Pennsylvania, the jury for the retrial is from the Philadelphia suburbs in Montgomery County.

At a hearing last month, Cosby lawyer Becky James argued it would be hard to find an impartial jury in this climate: "There's no way we will get a jury that hasn't heard these allegations against not just Mr. Cosby but many other celebrities".

The former TV star once revered as "America's Dad" for his family sitcom "The Cosby Show" wore a dark suit with a trench coat draped across his legs and a thin wooden cane in his hand as O'Neill questioned potential jurors.

Cosby's lawyers objected to having reporters in the courtroom because they feared it could hurt their ability to find a fair and impartial jury.

Cosby's first trial on charges that he drugged and sexually assaulted Ms Andrea Constand in 2004, ended with a hung jury. He says the sexual encounter with Andrea Constand was consensual.

Page Six said that 120 people were questioned in total on Monday and only one person said they were unaware of the #MeToo movement, a national conversation about sexual harassment and assault. The lone person who claimed ignorance on #MeToo was not invited back.

The Los Angeles Times noted that Cosby's retrial will now have to face the #MeToo movement, which began late a year ago after Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was outed as a serial sexual abuser. He also ruled that the jury can hear the amount of the settlement that Cosby reached with his accuser.
