The atmosphere on Wednesday, Oxlade-Chamberlain said, "was the best I've ever played in - one that set the tone for us".

Oxlade-Chamberlain insisted there was no prospect of complacency creeping into Liverpool's performance in the second leg.

Oxlade-Chamberlain left north London for Merseyside in the closing hours of the summer transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp has stated that the reason for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's massive improvement following his move from Arsenal to Liverpool is because he has been given the chance to play in a completely new team with a different style.

Towards the end of his last season with Arsenal, the England global struggled to find his best form and Arsene Wenger was blamed for the player's poor performances.

"Hendo [Jordan Henderson] was warning me about that before, he said "wait until you see it tonight" and I kind of knew what he meant but until you're out there and you see what the fans are doing and how much passion there was, it's was incredible to be part of".

"He was not coming here and saying 'come on, make the best of me, use me in the best way". "I've been working on that, on trying to do it more often".

"I think back to a few years ago when he got in the England team, looked like he was going to go to the World Cup, got injured. It got us going and it would probably shake anyone up so you have to give fans credit for that". "This was one of those nights where, had I not scored, I would have been disappointed in myself but ultimately if the team wins, especially in a game like that, I am obviously happy. [But] all players can improve".

"You don't get many opportunities so you have to be clinical and the three boys up front this season have managed to stand out in how clinical they have been".

It was the midfielder's delicious strike that was the pick of the lot, however, and Oxlade-Chamberlain was quoted by the Daily Star as he spoke of his delight at the goal that handed his side the initiative on the night.
