Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met with the protesting MPs and expressed solidarity to their cause. The detained leaders were taken to Tughlaq Road Police station.

He condemned the detention of the MPs. TDP ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet and BJP ministers in Naidu's cabinet resigned from the respective governments before the official announcement of non-alliance.

"TDP MPs taken to Tughlak Road Police station for demanding special status for AP (Andhra Pradesh)". We will free them in an hour. "No case will be lodged against them", a police officer said to CNN-News18.

They had discussed the special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu had earlier also directed his MPs to approach President Ram Nath Kovind regarding the Centre's refusal to grant the state special status. Naidu met several leaders of opposition parties and BJP allies to garner support for the no-trust motion, but it wasn't taken up in the recently concluded session due to repeated adjournments in the parliament. The TDP had also issued no-confidence motion notices against the government.
