Hospital sources said a second injured civilian, identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar, 17, was brought to the hospital after sustaining bullet injuries at the gunfight site in Kulgam district. The statement was silent on the death of the fourth civilian.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Yasin Malik was detained soon after he and separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq called for a two-day shutdown in the Kashmir Valley on Thursday and Friday to denounce the Kulgam killings.

The latest killings came days after 13 militants, five civilians and three soldiers were killed in one of the most violent days in Kashmir in recent years on April 1.
