It was no ordinary show when she stepped on stage wearing a dazzling band leader number before what has been one of her best performances ever.

Lawson took to Instagram to let the world know she stands corrected by posting a lengthy, intimate conversation she had with her daughter before her historic performance on Saturday (April 14), which drew inspiration from HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). Now, she's also giving some of these schools thousands to provide students with scholarships. Bey also added that she hoped the performance would encourage enrollment at HBCUs.

The more than 100 historically shameful US schools and colleges were based before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 when white-dominated associations of high education and learning could bar African American pupils.

"We honour all institutions of higher learning for maintaining culture and creating environments for optimal learning which expands dreams and the seas of possibilities for students", Ivy McGregor, who administers the singer's BeyGood foundation, said in a statement announcing the scholarship.

To qualify, students must have a 3.5 GPA in programs including literature, creative arts, African-American studies, science, education, business, communications, social sciences, computer science and engineering. It was the impetus to mark her second scholarship program.

One victor from each school will receive $25K for the 2018-2019 academic year for study in various fields. Last year, she launched The Formation Scholars Awards Program in celebration of Lemonade's one-year anniversary. All finalists and winners will be selected by the universities.
