Sega Ages Bringing Classics To Switch Beginning In Summer 2018

Sega Are Releasing A Mini Version Of The Mega Drive

As you can see above, the console is tiny - it can't hold Genesis game cartridges. The games will be developed by M2, the developer of the Sega 3D Classics releases on the 3DS among many other retro remakes.

Back when console games are running 16-bit graphics, Sega and Nintendo were rivals in the gaming industry.

Sega Ages series producer Kagasei Shimomura is quoted as saying that he wants to expand the official lineup past the now confirmed retro games being worked on. However, Sega managed to shake Nintendo's footing when it released a console called Sega Genesis or the Mega Drive. The Register would be more than happy to be surprised by an entirely new and fresh console, however. It's therefore expected to come with some of the classic games built in, with no need (or means) to buy additional games.

This was all announced at the Sega FES 2018 event alongside Shenmue I & II being announced.

Syrian Refugee Praises Trump's 'Leadership and Bravery' in Strike
He said $400 billion would be needed to restore Syria's economy and called the coalition missile strikes "an act of aggression". The U.S. will remain ready, but future actions, they say are dependent upon Syrian President Bashar Assad .

It was also announced that Gain Ground will be joined by other arcade games, while Rieko Kodama was also confirmed as the producer on the new Sega Ages project. AtGames is Sega's chosen manufacturer to provide the retro hardware for the Mega Drive Mini. This is certainly a welcome addition to the Switch's lineup and should help tide fans over while we wait for Nintendo to re-release their own classics on the system.

The miniature device pays homage to the original Sega Mega Drive which launched 30 years ago in Japan (Feel old yet?) and will contain 15 preloaded games. AtGames is the company responsible for the Atari Flashback and Sega Genesis Flashback mini-consoles.

The Mega Drive Mini will do everything your Mini Nintendon't.
