From landmarks to toilets there are some brave runners in this year's London Marathon

Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge raced to gold in the 2018 London marathon held on Sunday beating off competition from Ethiopia's Tola Kitata and United Kingdom's Mo Farah who finished second and third respectively.

The four-time Olympic champion, who quit the track to focus on 26.2-mile distance previous year, kept pace with the leaders for most of the race but was ultimately left behind by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge - undefeated in his last three outings in this race - and Ethiopian Tola Shura Kitata.

Steve Jones's record of 2:07:13 would have been 33 years old in October but as the Welshman himself predicted, Farah broke it as he lowered his marathon personal best from his 2:08:21 in London four years ago.

"The guys just went for it, at world record pace. It was do or die, I went for it and hung in as much as I could and it's nice to have the record", said Farah.

It is so different to the track.

"I gave 110% like I always do".

"The drink station was confusing - I was table four, I went to pick it up". That's what's fun in London, you never know what you're going to get. "I was telling the people 'just tell me which one is his drink or my drink, just point to my drink'".

Taulia Tagovailoa , the younger brother of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, committed to the Crimson Tide on Saturday. Moving forward, Saban said he thinks Hurts will benefit from the personal attention he'll be able to receive from Enos.

Olympic 5000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot sprang a major surprise in the women's race when she upset a stellar cast to complete the Kenyan double. Tadelech Bekele of Ethiopia was third. So to break a British record and finish on the podium, is good for me.

With Farah, Olympic champion Kipchoge, Kenenisa Bekele and Daniel Wanjiru all on the start line, plus the depth of athletes behind them, organisers assembled the greatest field ever for a men's marathon, and while the world record is unharmed, it was an enthralling and exciting battle in the United Kingdom capital.

Some viewers even accused the channel of "ruining" the men's elite race as pictures kept cutting out as Eliud Kipchoge won over Mo Farah, who finished third.

British racer David Weir took first-place in the men's wheelchair race.

The Briton won in 1:31.15 while Switzerland's Marcel Hug came second and American Daniel Romanchuk third.

Despite breaking the British record with a time of 2hr 6min 21sec, Farah voiced his frustration after a freakish incident during the race, which the Daily Mail said was the hottest on record with a temperature of 23.2 deg C.

Keitany was a colossal 32 seconds ahead of Radcliffe's 10-mile time, with Ethiopian rival Tirunesh Dibaba for company.
