The New Gmail: More Smarts, More Security... More Clutter

Gmail's'confidential mode lets you set expiration dates on emails

So changes are important. Starting today, users will see the new changes in Gmail for Web. A lot of the features here are new to Gmail but have been part of Inbox for a long time.

The changes are rolled out to nearly 1.2 Billion Gmail users so don't panic if you don't get the update straight away.

The updated aesthetics aren't hard to adjust to and there's a handful of great new features. Here's what you need to know. For other email providers, the link will redirect to a Google-hosted site where the content will be viewable until the specified date. The update has reportedly been two years in the making, and is targeted at offering users better offline readability of received emails, as well as increasing overall email security.

The feature confidential mode lets you send and revoke messages that house sensitive information, by adding expiration dates to such messages. Gmail will also warn you if a mail is found to be potentially risky. And if you're keen on trying it out, you can do so right now. The savvy answer, which has been accessible on the mobile apps of Gmail for quite a while, also gets added to the new web variant. Having these on hand means you don't have to switch browser tabs so often.

And now when you hover over threads, there are new buttons for archiving messages, deleting them, marking them as unread, or snoozing them. However, if you're impatient then there's a way to get the update right now.

We'll have to check out the functionality for ourselves to see how it works, but we're looking forward to one day being able to respond to a bunch of emails while offline on a flight, only to see them satisfyingly zoom away once you're connected to the internet again. You can also look into the attachments without opening up the email.

That's more or less what to expect from the new Gmail client.

Gmail is also getting smarter, particularly in its companion mobile apps.

The "new look" Gmail will allow users to "do more without leaving your inbox", the company said.

Milind Soman Ankita Konwar To Tie The Knot Today
Model and actress Dipannita Sharma also attended the functions and posted regular updates on her Instagram. This is Milind's second marriage, after separating from his ex-wife Mylene Jampanoi, a French actor .

Tasks is another productivity booster being rolled out on the web and on brand new mobile apps.

In addition to this, an AI feature that "nudges" the user to view and respond to important messages or emails first. You can still use the Priority Inbox and star messages, for example.

"This is an entire rewrite of our flagship, most-used product", said Jacob Bank, product manager lead for Gmail, which 1.4 billion people use each month.

Increased competition for Microsoft's Outlook?

Despite all the helpful new bells and whistles, the new Gmail has some frustrating elements as well. This new option will allow the mail to time-limit its access to recipients and will also require them to enter a one-time passcode sent to their phones to read it. In addition to the above-mentioned features, changes in text style, font style, tab settings, Google calendar modifications etc. have also been done in the redesigned Gmail.

On the design front, Google's web interface now lets users collapse the left side panel which was earlier fixed.

Drag and drop makes organizing your lists easier than ever. As for now, what are your thoughts on Gmail's major redesign?

Many of those features feel geared at business users. These features are now available on Inbox by Gmail. It's becoming a more obvious destination to keep track of your work.
