Mr Johnson assured that Mr Trump will not be deterred by any demonstrations claiming he "knows what he wants to do".

"We and thousands of our supporters will definitely be making our voices heard about this", it added.

The White House announced Thursday that the Trump U.K. visit is scheduled for July 13th, aka Friday the 13th. They usually consist of the royal family greeting the guest with a ceremonial welcome on Horse Guards Parade before travelling to Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession.

Downing Street said further details of the visit will be set out "in due course".

The notion of Trump meeting with the Queen immediately prompted a petition to block the visit. British media reported Thursday that six conservative groups that support Trump sent the president a letter urging him to visit Scotland, his "ancestral home", to avoid protests in London.

The US ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, said the "thick-skinned" president would not be deterred by demonstrations. "He will also no doubt see that Londoners hold their liberal values of freedom of speech very dear".

In January of this year, Trump was scheduled to visit London to open the new US embassy, but he canceled the trip, claiming he felt former President Barack Obama's administration made a bad real estate deal in choosing the new location. He also reportedly won't be honored with an "official banquet" at Buckingham Palace.

Mr Johnson suggested it could take place in 2019, saying: "I don't think it's a snub".

Meanwhile, the offer of a ceremonial state visit remains on the table, according to a Whitehall source.

Despite the looming threats of protest, the US ambassador to Britain, Woody Johnson, insisted that Trump is "very thick-skinned" and can handle the tough crowds.

'You can really see it from an American perspective maybe even clearer than you can see it here'.

Under domestic pressure, May said that Trump's remarks were wrong, triggering the latter's retort demanding her not focus on him, but on anti-terrorism efforts in her own nation.
