Ashley Judd filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday against Harvey Weinstein for irreparable damage to her career after she rebuffed his sexual advances.

"It's time that Mr. Weinstein be held accountable for that conduct and for the ways in which he's damaged careers".

Attorney Theodore Boutrous Jr. said, "The pathetic reality, however, was that Weinstein was retaliating against Ms. Judd for rejecting his sexual demands approximately one year earlier, when he cornered her in a hotel room under the guise of discussing business".

Judd said in a prepared statement that any damages she wins will be donated to the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund "so that women and men in all professions may have legal redress for sexual harassment, economic retaliation and damage to their careers".

Her worst fears were realised at the end of past year when Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson confessed he turned his back on Judd and Mira Sorvino based on remarks Weinstein had allegedly made about the actresses, and now the Frida star is taking action to seek justice for opportunities missed.

He has that Weinstein had instructed him to blacklist certain female actresses, including Judd.

Speaking with ABC News' Amy Robach on Monday, Judd addressed the allegations made in her lawsuit. There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure. Thereafter, Ms. Judd was hired for not one, but two of Mr. Weinstein's movies, "Frida" in 2002 and "Crossing Over" with Harrison Ford in 2009.

Ashley Judd and her lawyers have filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, whom she alleges sexually harassed her and then blacklisted her in Hollywood.

"Weinstein made false statements of fact about Ms. Sorvino to others in the film industry to punish her and damage her career", the suit said.

A spokeswoman for Weinstein refuted the claims of Judd and Sir Peter and said the shamed producer would launch a "vigorous defence".

"I recall Miramax telling us they were a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs". Judd was in the first group of women who came forward last fall about Weinstein's sexual misconduct, putting her at the forefront of the #MeToo movement. This was probably in 1998, ' Jackson told New Zealand publication Stuff. Weinstein has denied all allegations, but is under investigation in a number of jurisdictions.

"Mr. Weinstein has nothing but the utmost respect for Peter Jackson. I know it for a fact".

Upon reports of Jackson's remarks, Judd tweeted her recollection of the meeting with Jackson and Walsh. She says the prognosis is "good" and a full recovery is expected.
