John Kelly Denies Calling Trump an "Idiot", Is Still Doomed

Colbert said about an NBC report that Kelly has said "multiple times" to aides and to Donald Trump that "women are more emotional" than men.

"I am committed to the President, his agenda, and our country", Kelly added. Instead, the president engages the press in more informal settings that aides say offer reporters far more access, more often, than past administrations.

According to the report Mr Kelly had also cast himself as protecting the country from Mr Trump's intentions.

Trump tweeted his own denial as well, calling the stories "false".

Kelly is Trump's second chief of staff, having been appointed to the position this past July to replace Reince Priebus. The retired four-star marine corps general was brought in last summer to instill discipline after the chaotic tenure of Reince Priebus.

NBC's unnamed sources told the network that Kelly was known to "make fun" more generally at what the chief of staff saw as the president's "lack of knowledge about policy and government".

The NBC News report quoted officials as saying Kelly portrays himself as fighting a lonely battle to curb Trump's erratic impulses and stave off disaster.

One US official commented on the tension, saying: "I don't think anybody is surprised that he and the President have had disagreements in the past".

Cosby outburst after guilty verdict
Witnesses for the prosecution in the retrial included five other women who also accused Cosby of drugging and assaulting them. His lawyer called Constand a "con artist" who levelled false accusations against Cosby so she could sue him.

The report also said Trump was growing exhausted of Kelly's attitude.

In that post, he pursued a more aggressive stance on immigration policy and won Mr Trump's praise for a drop in the number of migrants crossing the USA border with Mexico.

"He doesn't even understand what DACA is".

Kelly denied the claims on Monday, calling them a "pathetic attempt to smear" him.

She stood by the report and said the relationship between the President and his chief of staff has deteriorated.

Following his appointment as chief of staff, Mr Trump said: "John Kelly will do a fantastic job. Truly bad people!" said the US President, who now has over 51 million Twitter followers.

Multiple sources have told CNN that Trump is increasingly frustrated with Kelly, and a senior administration official said Monday that the feeling goes both ways. We don't get paid very much for this, do we?
