Sources told ESPN that UFC has reached out to Diaz with multiple lightweight opponents for a fight this summer, possibly at UFC 227 on August 4 in Los Angeles.

The UFC is still undecided on any potential punishment for Conor McGregor after he went on a rampage in Brooklyn a few weeks ago that left two fighters and one UFC employee injured.

UFC fighter Ray Borg suffered a corneal abrasion and fellow fighter Michael Chiesa suffered a facial laceration due to McGregor's bus attack, as both combatants were deemed unfit to fight in the UFC 223 card earlier this month.

Diaz hasn't fought since losing a majority decision to Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in August 2016.

White is subsequently unsure of when McGregor will return to the octagon, but Nurmagomedov seems likely to be his next opponent when that time arrives.

McGregor is due in a NY court on June 14 to face criminal charges after he and his entourage attacked a bus at the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, the site of UFC 223. Will we ever see that fight?

McGregor once said that he'd be willing to travel to Russian Federation for a fight with Nurmagomedov.

"We'll see what happens".

Getting the 33-year-old back would be a big boost for UFC, which needs all of the marquee stars it can get at the moment.

The head of the ultimate fighting championship (UFC) Dana white said that the organization of such a large-scale battle you need to choose an appropriate site, pointing to Las Vegas.

In the meantime, when is McGregor going to fight next?

"If you do a fight that big, you've got do it in Vegas", he said. "Khabib will fight in Russian Federation at some point, but it wont be that fight".

"If you do a fight that big, you gotta do it in Vegas", said White. There was an initial thought that the fight could take place in Nurmagomedov's home country of Russian Federation. "Khabib will fight in Russian Federation at some point, but it won't be that fight".
