Instagram is getting a whole host of new features over the coming weeks and months.

And, Instagram has revealed a new video chat feature that will allow users to speak face-to-face with their friends individually, or in small groups. Content will now organized into "topic channels", created to let users browse across their interests, instead of clumping recommended posts in a single view.

Which feature coming to Instagram are you most excited for? To initiate the feature, users just need to tap on a new camera icon on the direct messaging thread.

On Tuesday, May 1, Zuckerberg announced that WhatsApp would soon be bringing group video calling to the popular communication app, making it possible for folks to have face-to-face conversations with multiple people at once.

Notably, users will be able to minimize the video and continue video chatting while using Instagram simultaneously. In fact, the executive said, people have already used about 2billionminutes of video calling on WhatsApp alone (and Zuckerberg apparently contributes to them, relying on the service to video chat with his young daughters when he's on the road).

Instagram is launching interactive camera "experiences" that will allow users to grab snippets from other accounts and add them to their Stories.

Facebook is also adding a Watch Party feature, which means you can watch and comment on videos in realtime with your friends.

Instagram will also add AR camera effects that were brought to Facebook past year. Now, when you visit the Explore page, you'll be presented with a list of AI-discovered topics at the top of the feed that you are probably interested in.

There's also a new Explore tab in the app.

In 2016, Instagram introduced an algorithm-based timeline to replace chronological posts.

In just days following the announcement, a petition titled Keep Instagram Chronological was born, and it gathered 158,298 supporters in 72 hours.

What's more, the tool will show a "deep link" to the song so that when someone shares a song, it will play automatically from the Instagram story.

Instagram says the new integrations on Instagram will also work when posting Instagram Stories to Facebook Stories and there will be more apps in the near future that will be integrated to Instagram Stories like Spotify and GoPro.
