Vegas will host Game 2 on Wednesday night.

In the two-plus periods that followed, the talk of Game 1 between the Golden Knights and Capitals, two of the NHL's best stories going in these playoffs, was centered on the stellar hockey that had taken over T-Mobile Arena.

Nosek's victor at 9:44 of the final period came after Vegas defenceman Shea Theodore moved down the sideboards and fed the wide-open winger for his second goal of the playoffs.

The Capitals, by virtue of being beaten 6-4 in the opening game of the Stanley Cup final on Monday evening, are the latest members to be initiated. The Vegas Golden Knights won both regular season matchups between the two teams.

Monday marked the first game for the Capitals in the final since their only other appearance in 1998 when they were swept in four straight by the Detroit Red Wings. MacLellan said he felt like he had nothing to lose during the interview process, which led to him landing the job at the same time Barry Trotz was named coach. "I think we have another level to our game, that's the exciting thing".

Reaves and Wilson are two guys that aren't afraid to mix it up at any given opportunity, so we'll see if the animosity they helped stir up carries over into Game 2.

One minute after Andre Burakovsky took the game's first penalty, defenseman Colin Miller struck first for the Golden Knights. "I didn't make the play, I was a little late, but whatever".

It was the first goal Holtby had allowed since May 19, after more than seven periods and 164 total minutes without letting one by.

United States team heading to Singapore to work on summit
Following Trump's cancellation of the summit, North Korea issued a statement declaring it was still open to talks. Kim's sister Kim Yo Jong also attended the meeting, the Blue House confirmed.

George McPhee will only get a ring if the Vegas Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup. Vegas got three goals from its fourth line, all in the third period.

Buoyed by the goal, the Capitals regained possession after the re-start and brought it back to their offensive zone.

But Vegas drew even before the period was up.

Strangely enough, none of the 10 goals came off the stick of Alex Ovechkin, who only had two shots on net, though he did have an assist in the game. Holtby stoned a Deryk Engelland shot and the following shot missed wide, but the Knights continued the assault.

Carlson and Oshie kept the back-and-forth theme alive.

Carlson almost made it 4-3 on a power play later in the period, but Fleury got the shaft of his stick on the puck before it caromed off the part of the net where post meets crossbar. Thus, since the 1939 final, the average goals per game in Game 1 is 5.64, with the home side averaging 3.36 goals to the road team's 2.28 goals.

There they were, Tom Wilson and Ryan Reaves, trading punches in the third period - on the scoreboard, of all places - in this heavyweight title bout.
