Tory rebellion back on after MPs reject May’s compromise

Brexit news- Theresa May and Nigel Evans

The government's amendment to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill sets out what must happen in the event of three scenarios: If MPs vote down the UK-EU Brexit deal, if Theresa May announces before 21 January 2019 that no deal has been reached, or if 21st January passes with no deal being struck.

Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit plans face rejection by parliament's upper chamber on Monday, setting the stage for a confrontation with rebel lawmakers later in the week which could rock her minority government. Instead, he said, the changed wording meant any vote would merely indicate the government had considered MPs' views.

At nearly the final moment on Tuesday, the two sides agreed to find a compromise and have until 1600 GMT to present it.

The committee on digital, culture, media and sport, which is investigating "fake news", wants Mr. Banks to explain his links to the Russian government before the Brexit vote, following reports based on leaked emails that seem to show that his contacts were more extensive than he has previously admitted.

After winning Tuesday's ballot over changes to a future "meaningful vote" on a final agreement with Brussels in her European Union withdrawal bill, May's plans to end more than 40 years of membership in the bloc were still on track. It is not a solicitation to make any exchange in commodities, securities or other financial instruments.

Mr Grieve has said he will hold further talks with ministers.

Delivering a broadside against Remainer MPs, he told the Express & Star: "It has been made clear that we absolutely can't remain members of the single market, as doing so would represent a betrayal of the Brexit vote".

It's the domestic battle that comes to a crunch again in Parliament on Monday, with crucial clashes that will decide how much power legislators get to shape the final Brexit deal.

Net neutrality rules officially repealed in US
You can imagine a scenario where NBC would want to speed up streams of its shows and slow down streams of its rivals, Nexflix. Several states including NY and Washington , have passed regulations that impose net neutrality on a local level.

"We could collapse the government, and I can assure you I wake up at 2 a.m.in a cold sweat thinking about the problems we have put on our shoulders", Dominic Grieve, a leading pro-EU lawmaker negotiating with the government, told the BBC.

A United Kingdom government's compromise to avoid a Commons defeat on Brexit has been rejected as "unacceptable" by leading rebel Dominic Grieve.

"The government has agreed that we will have an independent trade policy", she told the BBC.

May today said: "I listened to their concerns and I undertook to listen to their concerns".

The Prime Minister faced a marathon 12 Commons votes over her Brexit plans on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the Government comfortably avoiding defeat in all of them.

Grieve said the problem was that if the United Kingdom reached "the really apocalyptic moment" where no Brexit deal had been done by early February 2019, Parliament was not being offered the chance to say what should happen next - only to "note" the position.

It followed a strained parliamentary session, where the deep nationwide divisions opened up by Britain's vote to leave the European Union in 2016 were on display, with pro-EU lawmakers saying they had received death threats. Tory Brexiteers are fiercely resistant to the idea because they believe it could effectively be used as a Brexit veto to keep the United Kingdom in the EU.

Shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer said: "The Government's amendment is simply not good enough".
