Elon Musk emails Tesla workers about 'extensive and damaging sabotage' by an employee

Musk separately emailed Tesla employees about a small fire that forced the company to halt its body production line for several hours on Sunday night, CNBC also reported.

The automaker is ramping up efforts to meet its goal of producing 5,000 Model 3s, the company's attempt to offer a more affordable vehicle that would allow it to break into the broader consumer market.

Tesla (TSLA) stock fell Tuesday, halting a seven-day run, after Chief Executive Elon Musk disclosed an alleged saboteur in the company's ranks and warned short-sellers that their position was going to "explode".

In it, Musk says the employee had admitted to sabotaging Tesla, but the total extent of his actions is yet to be determined through an internal investigation.

San Francisco - Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Monday in an email to staff that an unnamed Tesla employee had conducted "extensive and damaging sabotage" to the company's operations - including allegedly making unspecified code changes to its manufacturing operating system and sending what the email said was sensitive Tesla data to unnamed third parties. "In light of these actions, not promoting him was definitely the right move", the email reads.

Rivkin said the estimated fare will be $20 to $25 per ride, which is significantly less than a taxi ride to or from the airport. The skates, according to a fact-sheet from the company, would likely run every 30 seconds, 20 hours per day, the company said.

"Could just be a random event, but as Andy Grove said, "Only the paranoid survive" Musk wrote, referring to the late CEO of Intel.

The leaked email, sent to Tesla's roughly 40,000 staff, said the matter was being was being investigated. Tesla has been racing to meet Musk's goal of producing 5,000 Model 3 sedans per week at that factory. But in a separate email to staff, sent just after 9:30 a.m. on June 18, Musk branded the event "another unusual incident that was hard to explain" and advised all staff to "be on the alert for anything not in the best interests" of the company.

Last week Tesla announced it would lay off 9 percent of its workforce as part of corporate restructuring. At the company's annual meeting earlier this month, Musk said he expected to reach that target by the end of June. Then there are the oil & gas companies, the wealthiest industry in the world - they don't love the idea of Tesla advancing the progress of solar power & electric cars.
