Legalized Weed Just Months Away After Bill C-45 Officially Passes

Canada has voted to legalise cannabis for recreational use

Members of the Canadian House and Senate have reconciled and given final approval to C-45, sweeping legislation amending the federal Controlled Drugs and Substances Act so that those over the age of 18 may legally possess, purchase, and grow personal use quantities of cannabis.

It's a big day for recreational marijuana users in Canada, and an even bigger day for marijuana producers across the country.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a tweet that the decision would help protect children from the drug, and stop criminals from profiting from it.

"Cannabis for non-medical use is not legal yet".

The Canadian government largely followed the advice of a marijuana task force headed by former Liberal Health Minister Anne McLellan as well as the advice of former Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair, who is the parliamentary secretary to the justice minister.

The federal government is basking in the hazy glow of its plan to legalize recreational marijuana, but it is reminding Canadians that pot remains illegal until the Cannabis Act actually goes into effect. They also will be allowed to cultivate up to four plants in their households and prepare products such as edibles for personal use.

Messi misses penalty, Iceland holds Argentina to 1-1 draw
But it looked like the pressure was too heavy for the little magician as he failed to convert a penalty. But the truth of the matter is, Argentina aren't a good enough side to go far in the tournament.

"This is an historic milestone for progressive policy in Canada as we shift our approach to cannabis", Wilson-Raybould said via Twitter Tuesday night.

Most are expected to keep minimum ages in line with their stance on alcohol consumption - which means 19 in some places.

Those ages are lower than in U.S. states that have embraced legalization.

"I'm feeling just great", said Sen. "I don't think it is of such importance to warrant an extraordinary intervention". This is monumental for Canada, which has now officially ended over 90 years of prohibition on the magical plant that does so much more than just give you warm fuzzy brain feelings. "A courageous move on the part of the government", the bill's sponsor Sen.

"It leaves behind a failed model of prohibition, a model that has made organized crime rich and left our young people vulnerable", she said. Wilson Raybould, meanwhile, said she considers the matter to be under the purview of Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale.

Conservative senators remained resolutely opposed to legalization, however, and predicted passage of C-45 will not meet the government's objectives.
