'How Dare You!': Corey Lewandowski Mocks Girl with Down Syndrome Who was 'Caged' by Border Agents

The comment came after the former senior Democratic National Committee adviser Zac Petkanas began telling the little girl's story. In the middle of his sentence, Lewandowski interjected with a dismissive and sarcastic sound effect: "womp womp".

"Did you just say, 'womp womp, ' to a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome being taken from her mother?"

"How dare you? How dare you?"

It went on from there, with Petkanas repeatedly wondering how Lewandowski could dare say something so despicable and with Lewandowski saying that when you commit a crime in this country, you forfeit your right to be with your family.

Lewandowski served as President Donald Trump's campaign manager from January 2016 to June 2016 and was sacked after he forcibly grabbed and nearly slammed to ground a Breitbart reporter, Michelle Fields, at a news conference in Florida.

Last summer, Lewandowski was sacked from his job as a political commentator for One America News Network, according to The Daily Beast. which reported that Lewandowski was ousted by the conservative network because of his frequent appearances with the network's competitors, including Fox News. In response to a panelist who mentioned the separation of the girl with Down's syndrome, he responded: "Womp womp".

'You have to take the children away'
Earlier, Mr Trump said on Twitter that people should be wary of what he called the cultural change caused by migrants in Europe. Trump, said Sunday: "She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart".

He added that criticism for family separations should be directed at parents who crossed the border illegally, and said it was the families of Americans killed by undocumented immigrants who were owed an apology.

The story was initially shared by Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray, who said that this story was particularly painful.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has confirmed that agents separated a child with Down syndrome from her mother as they attempted to cross the U.S. -Mexico border.

The agency said in a statement obtained by CNN that the girl was separated from her mother and detained in a Texas facility because her mother is a material witness in a human smuggling case.

The two continued to yell over each other before host Sandra Smith was able to briefly settle them down.
