AirAsia cancelled 6.30pm and 8pm flights on Thursday between Denpasar and Perth, as well as the 7.30pm Denpasar to Perth flight amid fears the ash could affect the aircraft engines.

Emirates' flights to and from Bali, Indonesia on Friday, June 29, have been delayed due volcanic ash emission activity at Mount Agung.

The airport on Indonesia's holiday island of Bali reopened on Friday after ash from a volcano forced a brief closure and the cancellation of more than 300 flights.

"Micro tremors are still being detected. indicating that magma is moving towards the surface", Sutopo Purwo Nugroho of the disaster mitigation agency said.

"Denpasar Airport is now closed and we are monitoring the advice from the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center and our team of senior pilots and meteorologists will make an assessment when flights can be resumed", said the statement.

The airport had been closed since 3 a.m. local time on Friday.

The volcano is about 75km from Bali's tourist hub in Kuta.

"At Flight Centre we are closely monitoring the situation and working with our customers due to travel to the region to provide support and advice. We just miss the kids", he added.

Authorities raised the warning alert to the highest level on November 22 and ordered the evacuation of people living nearby after two days of eruptions.

"Bali dan Badung regency have prepared emergency funds. after learning from last year's experience", Bali governor Made Mangku Pastika told the Antara news agency during his visit to the airport.

There is a 4km no-go zone around Agung's peak.

Agung has been erupting periodically since it rumbled back to life previous year. Its last major eruption in 1963 killed more than 1,000 people and razed several villages.

Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 250 million people, sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" and is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
