A WOMAN exposed to the nerve agent Novichok in southwest England, near where a Russian spy was targeted by the same type of chemical in March, has died, police said. British police say Dawn Sturgess was staying in Salisbury before she showed signs of sickness in nearby Amesbury on June 30.

Sturgess and a 45-year-old man both took ill at a residential address in Amesbury on June 30.

He said: "Detectives will continue with their painstaking and meticulous work to gather all the available evidence so that we can understand how two citizens came to be exposed with such a deadly substance that tragically cost Dawn her life".

Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the head of United Kingdom counterterror policing said: "This is shocking and tragic news".

"We are not in a position to say whether the nerve agent was from the same batch that the Skripals were exposed to", police said in a statement, adding that a murder inquiry had been launched.

Police suspect Rowley and Sturgess handled a discarded item from the first attack, though they have not determined for certain that the two cases are linked.

Russian Federation denied any involvement in the Skripal incident, and suggested that British police had orchestrated it to stoke anti-Russia sentiments.

Basu said that Sturgess leaves behind three children, and offered thoughts and prayers for the woman's family.

"The Government is committed to providing full support to the local community as it deals with this tragedy", she wrote in a second tweet.

The Met urged anyone who may have information that could assist with this investigation and would urge anyone to help to contact police by calling 0800 789 321.

James is now eligible to sign a five-year supermax deal with the Cavaliers that would be worth $205 million over five seasons. So much for the Cleveland Cavaliers getting a face-to-face meeting with LeBron James in an attempt to entice him to re-sign.

On Twitter, Prime Minister Theresa May said she was "appalled and shocked" by Sturgess' death.

Ms Sturgess's family are being given support by specialist officers and have asked for privacy.

Police had been working to discover how Dawn Sturgess and a 45-year-old man had come across an item contaminated with Novichok, which was developed by the Soviet military during n the Cold War.

A police officer sought medical advice Saturday in connection with the ongoing investigation of the nerve agent exposure, but was given the "all clear," according to Wiltshire Police.

She said: "The staff here at Salisbury District Hospital worked tirelessly to save Dawn".

The poisoning of the Skripals, both of whom spent weeks in hospital before being discharged, was blamed by the United Kingdom government on Russian Federation.

Moscow hit back by expelling Western diplomats.

Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned in March, 2018.

But he said health authorities continued to assert the risk to the public was low.
