Manager Gareth Southgate said England "left everything out there" after falling to an extra-time defeat by Croatia in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Following a starring role played in Croatia's dramatic late win to crush England's World Cup dreams at the semi-final stage in Russia, Ivan Perisic is now considered a potential doubt to play in Croatia's first ever World Cup final on Sunday.

The former Middlesbrough boss took his side to semi-final of the World Cup before losing to a Mario Mandzukic injury time victor, narrowly missing out on England's first final appearance since 1966.

"We will see how he is". The love and support we received from everyone will live long in the memory and its great that we have come together as a nation to create new memories.

"Emotionally it has been a hard few days but the players are incredible".

"We owe it as much to ourselves as to our nation to finish well".

"It's a young team; the majority of the players will play in the next World Cup with more experience at club level", the Portuguese boss told RT. "We have set a standard of how we work and how we play".

Germany, Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and Argentina currently occupy the top five slots in the rankings but Southgate said that the pressure is now on England to rise up to the very top. "What we have to decide with the team is who can go again physically - it'll be important".

Hendo ( Jordan Henderson ) was another one who was feeling tightness in his hamstring, which was why we made the change. We just want to keep on improving, stick together as a team and give more moments like that, they are special moments".

"Everyone wants to play but sometimes it is not a good decision to play someone if their energy is not there", said Gareth Southgate to reporters.

"It won't be exactly the same starting 11, but we want ideally to make as few changes as possible".

The European Championship in two years' time will be staged in 12 different cities across the continent, but the climax will come at Wembley - which won the rights to stage the semi- finals and final, as well as group games and a last-16 tie.

"They didn't want to hide anything from us, and that is why that sanction was chosen".

"If we had a parade, that would have been one part of the country".

"So there's a lot of motivation for us and of course Belgium have beaten us once already, so we'd like to redress that as well".

Croatia have gone to extra-time in all three of their knockout matches, triumphing on penalties against Denmark and hosts Russian Federation before edging past England 2-1 in the semi-final. The first thought for Harry has been about how far can he help the team go.

"I think every Belgian fan deserves that winning feeling at the end of this tournament".
