Putin gains more than Trump from Helsinki summit, says expert

President Donald Trump defiantly defended on Tuesday his meeting with Vladimir Putin, saying his encounter with the Russian leader went "even better" than his summit with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders last week. "The damage inflicted by President Trump's naivete, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is hard to calculate", McCain said in a blistering statement.

Putin said Russian Federation and the US reached common ground on Syria at Monday's talks but gave few details.

Rep. John Faso, a Republican, says he does not agree with the president's approach.

"We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy, and we will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security", he said.

Unsurprisingly, Russians welcomed Trump's suggestion that he trusts Putin more than USA intelligence agencies.

Trump drew criticism from Democrats and some Republicans for comments he made at the summit dismissing USA intelligence claims that the Russians tampered in the elections.

Trump on Monday shied away from criticising the Russian leader for Moscow's actions to undermine the election and cast doubt on United States intelligence agencies, prompting calls by some politicians for tougher sanctions and other actions to punish Russia.

Gladysh says he wasn't surprised Trump didn't use the summit to call out Putin for meddling with the U.S elections.

You all know my statistics. "I hope I can give the best response on the field during matches, that's what I can do". Insigne made 48 appearances for Napoli last season, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further 14 strikes.

He added that "they drove a phony wedge, it's a phony witch hunt", referring to the investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 United States presidential election, headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Brennan refused to say directly whether he believed Trump had been compromised by Russian Federation, but he said the president behaved like a man aware of his own guilt.

Absent from Trump's remarks was any mention of some of the most contentious issues between the two global powers, including ones Trump had previously said would be discussed at Helsinki.

After all, that was the ultimate goal of Russia's election meddling, USA officials have assessed.

"In the last few years alone, Russian Federation meddled in our presidential campaign, violated arms-control treaties with the United States, invaded Ukraine, assassinated political opponents in the United Kingdom, made common cause with Iran in propping up Bashar al-Assad's outlaw regime in Syria, and cheated not only in the Olympics, but even in the Paralympics", Cotton said. Putin said. "He defends the interests of the United States, and I defend the interests of the Russian Federation".

"That was a clean campaign, I beat Hillary Clinton easily", he said at another.

"I have great confidence in my intelligence people".
