A Palestinian terrorist stabbed three people in a Jewish community in Samaria on Thursday night, leaving two seriously wounded.

Israel's minister for military affairs says Tel Aviv will build 400 settler units in the Adam settlement, also known as Geva Binyamin, in response to a recent alleged stabbing attack in the occupied West Bank.

Israel has been developing settlements in the occupied West Bank despite global condemnation.

Palestinians say that continued construction of illegal settlements on their land will ruin the chances of future Palestinian state constituting of the occupied West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem as its capital, which was occupied during the 1967 war.

On Thursday, three people were stabbed, including one fatally, by a 17-year-old Palestinian in the settlement of Adam. The Israeli army said on Friday it had raided the village, questioned a number of his family members and suspended their work permits. Four other Palestinians were detained for questioning.

Israel strikes Hamas targets in Gaza after troops attacked

Most were shot dead during protests and clashes but others were killed in Israeli airstrikes or artillery fire.

"The level of Israeli escalation against Gaza and the deliberate targeting of fighters demonstrate the occupation's intentions to kill", spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said.

The ceasefire, declared on Saturday by Hamas, appeared to be on the verge of crumbling after Palestinian gunmen injured an Israeli soldier on Wednesday, starting a wave of tit-for-tat retaliations.

Some 300 Palestinians - a lot of them assailants, Israel says - have also been killed in that period, according to news agencies. The incident occurred near the spot where an Israeli soldier was killed Friday under similar circumstances.

The Israeli army said it responded to a Hamas sniper who opened fire on soldiers on the Gaza border.
