I wasn't expecting her to do what she did to that song.

The Queen of Soul is now surrounded by friends and family and they're asking for prayers and privacy at this time.

"Aretha Franklin" and "Queen of Soul" were trending on Twitter late Sunday and early Monday.

Franklin, 76, has dealt with numerous health issues in recent years, leading the singer to announce her retirement in February 2017.

Aretha Franklin is "gravely ill" at her home in Detroit, as a her family ask for "prayers and privacy" - according to a report from entertainment journalist Roger Friedman's online column Showbiz 411.

She has won 20 Grammys in throughout her career, including three special honors: the Legend Award (1991), the Lifetime Achievement Award (1994) and the MusiCares Person of the Year (2008).

In 2002, her eldest sister Erma died of throat cancer.

Her statement came after she cancelled a series of shows due to ill health.

"I will be recording, but this will be my a year ago in concert".

"It would be [called] Aretha's!" But I am not one of those people. This said, Friedman's report does not confirm whether this has contributed to her current illness.

In 2017, the Respect hitmaker was forced to deny a cruel death hoax after a tweet claiming she had died went viral.

Franklin said since she's been extremely active throughout her career, it wouldn't be good for her to just sit down and do nothing, so that's why "she's keeping the one or two concerts in every month or so".
