China Condemns 'Irresponsible' Trump Accusations Over N. Korea

The Chinese protest followed after Trump's tweets yesterday that he had asked US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to cancel his trip to North Korea because there had not been significant progress on denuclearisation. "If he chooses the latter, it will bode ill for South Korean-United States relations."Mr. Moon's foreign minister, Kang Kyung-wha, talked with Mr. Pompeo on the phone on Saturday, expressing regrets over the cancellation of Mr. Pompeo's trip".

North Korea's Rodong Sinmun newspaper said USA special units based in Japan were staging an air drill aimed at "the infiltration into Pyongyang", citing a South Korean media outlet.

Officials also declined to say how the letter was transmitted, but North Korea has been increasingly communicating through its United Nations mission, known as the "New York Channel".

The Washington Post quoted two unnamed senior U.S. administration officials as saying the letter came on Friday from Mr Kim Yong Chol, vice chairman of North Korea's ruling Workers' Party Central Committee, who led previous rounds of talks with Mr Pompeo.

"Additionally, because of our much tougher Trading stance with China, I do not believe they are helping with the process of denuclearization as they once were (despite the UN Sanctions which are in place)", Trump said. "He is trying to punish China on trade".

"All parties concerned should.show more sincerity and flexibility, instead of being capricious and putting the blame on others". The proposed office comes under an agreement reached by South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un when they first met in the border village of Panmunjom on April 27.

His letter exchanges began in the early 1990s when he found the address of his sister, who years earlier sent him a photo of his parents and the news of their deaths via a former neighbor who had acquired USA citizenship and visited the North.

The plan envisioned this would cut greenhouse gases from the power sector by around 32% by 2030, based on 2005 levels. Bob Herbert of Dover said he worries the Trump Administration's proposal could worsen air quality in Delaware.

Since the summit, the two sides have struggled to narrow differences over the North's nuclear weapons program.

But there has been no indication that North Korea had stopped its nuclear activities, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a report on Monday.

Eric Gomez, a policy analyst for defense and foreign policy studies at the Cato Institute, said that "once again with North Korea, Trump creates a problem that didn't need to exist".

The US leader, who relishes unpredictability in negotiating, had at one point cancelled that meeting, citing North Korea's "open hostility".

Trump's move also followed two days of trade talks with Chinese officials in Washington that ended without progress, a fact the president alluded to in his decision about the Pyongyang trip.

I applaud the efforts made by President Trump as he tries to stabilize the region and halt North Korea's efforts to be a nuclear power.

The Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on Friday that the suspension of the drills can weaken regular informational exchanges and tactical cooperation.
