Dorsey and other tech titans will be in the US capital on Wednesday to testify in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is still probing Russian interference in the 2016 election, along with the general growing influence of social media to disseminate information.

"That's on us", she wrote. USA intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 campaign with the aim of tilting the election in Trump's favor, a finding that Moscow has denied. "It violated the values of our company and of the country we love".

A spokesperson for Twitter declined to comment, but in past hearings Twitter officials have affirmed the gravity of the situation.

Democrats panned the GOP for drumming out outrage toward Twitter and pointed to President Trump's repeated use of the platform to "bully" critics.

"The threat we face is not new".

"I'm skeptical that, ultimately, you'll be able to truly address this challenge on your own", he told the hearing with Dorsey and Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg.

Earlier this year the company said it was taking aggressive measures to combat inauthentic accounts.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey says in pre-released House testimony that his company does not use political ideology to make decisions. Twitter denies that is happening. "Period", Dorsey told the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
