Cowboys ‘only willing’ to trade third-round pick for Seahawks’ Earl Thomas

This public dance between Thomas, the Cowboys and Seattle began on Christmas Eve, when Thomas walked into the Dallas locker room after the Seahawks' win at AT&T Stadium to tell head coach Jason Garrett to come and get him.

Thomas doesn't likely want to sit out all season, and he nearly undoubtedly wouldn't, but the Seahawks have until the NFL's trade deadline to continue fining him and collecting the money from all of the games and practices he's skipping.

That Thomas wrote that the "disrespect has been well noted and will not be forgotten" means Thomas obviously is reporting rather unhappily.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said during a TV broadcast Tuesday night that Dallas offered Seattle a third-round pick, but that the Seahawks wanted "a second-rounder and change".

"Father Time may have an undefeated record but best believe I plan on taking him into triple overtime when it comes to my career", Thomas wrote.

With Thomas saying a couple of times that he won't return to the Seahawks without a contract extension and a lack of signs that a contract extension is something the team is interested in extending his way, no end to the Thomas saga appears to be in sight.

Thomas took to instagram today to announce he will report to Seahawks camp today, but it's clear he doesn't expect to be back in Seattle after this season. As Spotrac shows, Thomas has a base salary of $8.5 million this season, and if the Seahawks are winning, there's little chance they'd send him packing.

As the standoff in Seattle continues, Earl Thomas is not expected to play week one.

Thomas has since reported to the Seahawks, but he still doesn't appear to be thrilled with his situation.

In Thomas' absence, the Seahawks have been preparing to start 2017 fourth-round pick Tedric Thompson at free safety.
