Amber Guyger, the Dallas police officer who authorities say shot and killed a well-liked businessman at his apartment, has been arrested by the Texas Rangers and is now accused of manslaughter.

Online records initially showed Guyger was in custody, but she later was not listed on the jail inmate roster.

"A female Dallas police officer returned to what she believed to be her apartment after her shift ended - she was still in uniform when she encountered Mr. Jean inside the apartment", Hall said Thursday.

Dallas police Chief Renee Hall said Saturday that the Rangers had asked her to hold off on a planned manslaughter charge while their investigation is underway, FOX 4 of Dallas reported. The department had requested a warrant on Friday.

The officer was named on Saturday as Amber Guyer, who had worked for Dallas Police Department for four years on the Southeast Patrol Division.

Then, the investigation into Jean's death had been turned over to the Texas Rangers, who said they needed to conduct their own investigation before a warrant for Guyger's arrest could be obtained.

She posted $300,000 (£232,000) bail, ABC reported, and has been released.

Funeral services for Jean are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dallas West Church of Christ, which Jean attended.

"Super scary because the police are supposed to protect you and then they come home and you're just hanging out in your own house and then they come home thinking they're home or whatever", he said. Guyger's arrest was announced as Jean's family and their attorneys say they met with prosecutors to demand the officer's arrest.

In that case, Guyger was attempting to identify a woman in a auto when another passenger in the vehicle got out and took her taser.
