Sony announces PlayStation Classic, a nostalgia-filled mini-console

PlayStation Classic mini retro console is launching in time for Christmas

Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, Wild Arms, Jumping Flash and Ridge Racer Type 4. It comes with an HDMI cable, two wired controllers and a USB power cord, but you'll need to supply your own AC adapter.

In all, the PlayStation Classic will feature 20 pre-loaded games.

That omission is thought to rule out 1999's iconic "Ape Escape" from the retro console's 15 unannounced games, as it relied upon the presence of analog controls.

As previously stated, the PlayStation Classic will arrive on December 3, and it'll cost $99.99.

Led command approves South Korean border crossings into North Korea
The launch comes days before the leaders of the two Koreas are to meet in Pyongyang for their third summit this year. Trump and Kim Jong Un pledged to denuclearize the Korean peninsula at their historic Singapore meeting.

Nintendo then released another version, dubbed the Super Nintendo Classic Edition, in 2017. Even the two controllers it comes bundled with are modeled after the original PlayStation controllers. Sony wants a piece of that action, and it just unveiled a brand new console that will hit stores by Christmas. In terms of output the announcement notes that all original games will be playable in their original format - so we should expect near-perfect emulation without and additional filtering or updates. They followed it up with a mini SNEs, but we've also seen a mini Mega drives, tiny Neo Geos and now, a PlayStation classic. As with those machines, the PlayStation Classic will not be able to download further titles.

With the classic, Sony is taking a page from Nintendo's playbook.

Some might think £90 is a lot for a bunch of memories, but the PlayStation Classic will provide the first time we can play numerous games in HD through HDMI (legally, at least). A complete roster of games will be announced soon, including more "fan favorites", according to the release.

One expert said nostalgia was driving interest in retro consoles, which offer a means of making historical video games more accessible.
