Miami Heat Have High Interest in Trading for Jimmy Butler

Butler met with head coach Tom Thibodeau and Timberwolves GM Scott Layden to discuss his future with the team on Tuesday, apparently reaching an impasse. Wiggins remains signed with the Timberwolves through 2023.

It took just one year after the Timberwolves sent Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the pick that became Lauri Markkanen to the Bulls for Jimmy Butler's relationship with head coach Tom Thibodeau and teammate Karl-Anthony Towns to be fractured beyond fix. All three project to have max cap space next July, when Butler is set to become a free agent.

So, it seems unlikely Butler will join the Knicks via trade, despite his reported interest. For value purposes, the Clippers might actually form the best odds at 9/1, as the team employs an interesting assortment of trade assets in conjunction with the obvious allure of Los Angeles.

In a rare mid-September NBA bombshell, reports indicate that Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

A first-round draft pick in 2011, Butler was named the NBA's Most Improved Player in 2014-15. Wiggins, meanwhile, has been said to be bothered by being relegated to the team's third offensive option behind Butler and Towns.

Brown doesn't want trade from Steelers
I always want to take that road when I'm standing at this podium representing this league. Coach Mike Tomlin was asked Tuesday whether Brown was at practice the previous day.

Whether or not Butler is willing to commit to signing with the Knicks next summer could change their calculation, but let's work off the assumption that the Knicks would refuse to include Ntilikina or Knox.

He helped lead the Timberwolves to the NBA Playoffs past year for the first time in 13 seasons, despite missing significant time with a torn meniscus.

Thibodeau had been planning to meet with Butler in Minnesota about the situation but instead traveled to LA to see him earlier this week.

Those questions won't stop until the season ends - or until the Timberwolves answer them with actions.
