Ford seeks to shift the balance of power in Kavanaugh drama

Grassley Fires Back at Requests From Ford's Lawyers

Christine Blasey Ford may testify against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after all, her attorney said Thursday, breathing new life into the prospect of a dramatic Senate showdown next week over Ford's accusation that he assaulted her when both were in high school.

Debra Katz, Ford's lawyer, relayed the response to top staffers on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, requesting to set up a call with them to "discuss the conditions under which [Ford] would be prepared to testify next week".

In their letter to Grassley, the Judiciary Committee chairman, Ford's lawyers have said that she is willing to "cooperate" with the panel.

Ford's lawyers have said she's received death threats.

"I question whether this will be significant 10 days from now because it does look like she isn't going to testify", Mr. Luntz told Fox's Laura Ingraham. "Who is not asking the FBI to investigate these claims?"

Blasey, a psychology professor at Palo Alto University, has publicly accused Kavanaugh of drunkenly assaulting her during a party in Maryland when they were both in high school.

"It is not the FBI's role to investigate a matter such as this", wrote Grassley, who also sent a letter to committee Democrats formally rejecting their bid for the FBI to investigate. The Republicans remain haunted by the Committee's 1991 treatment of attorney and academic Anita Hill, who had accused Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment, but whose testimony the was rejected as unreliable during Thomas's confirmation hearings. "If she doesn't show up, that would be unfortunate", Trump added, calling the situation "very unfair" to his nominee.

Tuchel refuses to say where Neymar will play vs Reds
Klopp said: "He was rested at the weekend so he will be 100 per cent fresh for us and we will see the full Neymar package". We have to respect them'. "Generally, we sit together in the dressing room in the same place just after matches".

"Before nominating an individual to a judicial or executive office, the White House directs the FBI to conduct a background investigation", Grassley wrote.

The chances of Ford deciding to go ahead appeared to rise Thursday after her attorneys opened negotiations with the Senate Judiciary Committee on a possible appearance next week. Susan Collins has suggested she will vote for Kavanaugh unless Ford testifies. The Gateway Pundit's story - which falsely claimed "Judge Kavanaugh's mother foreclosed on Christine Blasey Ford's parents' home" - was shared on social media pages with a combined following of more than 3 million, according to data from CrowdTangle. John Cornyn of Texas, the No. 2 Republican in the chamber, told CNN.

Several women came forward and accused Moore of engaging in sexual misconduct with them when they were teenagers ahead of his election before losing to Democrat Doug Jones a year ago.

The Senate is narrowly controlled by Republicans, who have embraced the idea of a quick vote on Kavanaugh's nomination if Ford does not to testify.

"We just have to be so much better than we've been in the past in recognizing what's appropriate and what's not, in terms of the process", Flake said Wednesday in the Costa report.

However, Katz maintained that Blasey still preferred that the committee fully investigated her claims before she testified. Now, Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley has responded, telling Ford's attorneys in a letter of his own that he is willing to make the hearing private, but not to delay it past September 24. Kavanuagh has repeatedly denied the allegations.

"I feel very proud of her and kind of impressed and amazed that she has the courage to come out and face whatever consequences she has to face", Peters said.
