Republicans on Senate panel send letter to potential Kavanaugh party attendee

Judge Brett Kavanaugh denies allegations that he drunkenly assaulted Professor Christine Blasey Ford at a party while they were in high school 36 years ago.

He speculated Friday on Twitter that if the attack "was as bad as she says" she or her parents would immediately have filed charges. He said that Ford and her attorneys have until Friday to commit to appear at a hearing that could take place Monday about these allegations.

She said Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed and groped her, putting his hand over her mouth when she tried to scream.

The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, which runs the National Sexual Assault Hotline and the Defense Department's Safe Helpline, reports that out of every 1,000 rapes, 310 are reported to police, 57 lead to an arrest, 11 cases will be referred to a prosecutor, 7 will result in a felony conviction, and 6 rapists will be incarcerated.

But the gloves came off Friday, reflecting Trump's fear that time is running out to get the judge confirmed - thereby tilting the Supreme Court firmly to the right for years to come - before November elections when Republicans risk losing control of Congress.

Kavanaugh has repeatedly agreed to testify before the Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee, saying he wants to clear his name.

Judge, for his part, told USA Today he had no recollection of the incident in question taking place and had "no information to offer" the Judiciary Committee on the matter. So I thought that the president's tweet was completely inappropriate and wrong, ' she said.

"On top of that, haggling over a single day that this credible victim of sexual assault says she needs to arrange for her security is preposterous".

Union Cabinet approves ordinance on triple talaq, makes it a punishable offence
Prasad accused the Congress of stalling the Triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha for the sake of its "vote bank politics". But it couldn't get the approval of the upper house, where the opposition controls the majority of seats.

The details of the alleged assault during a gathering of teenagers at a house in Montgomery County, Maryland, were carried in the Washington Post last Sunday when Prof Ford made a decision to go public. "To me Monday is the preferred date but I don't see a problem with delaying to Wednesday or Thursday". "In the very near future, Judge Kavanaugh will be on the United States Supreme Court". "And by the way, women are for that more than anyone would understand".

The panel rejected some of the other demands, including that Kavanaugh testify first, that the committee call additional witnesses that Ford requests, and that only senators be allowed to ask questions.

Just was time was running out, Ford lawyer Debra Katz late Friday requested another day to decide. If she refuses to testify, Team Ford can't accomplish either objective.

Katz reiterated that Ford, now a psychology professor in California, has received death threats and for safety reasons has relocated her family.

In her remarks, Fagen said her friendship with the nominee was forged in the early days of the Bush administration when Kavanaugh went out of his way to ensure his colleagues were safe and coping well under pressure in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Republicans have resisted all Democratic efforts to slow and perhaps block Mr Kavanaugh's confirmation.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell played verbal hardball of his own, drawing a standing ovation when he assured a gathering of evangelical activists that the conservative Kavanaugh would soon be a justice.

She said she doesn't think the FBI should investigate, pointing out that Kavanaugh has already undergone Federal Bureau of Investigation background checks six times for successive appointments.
