"An even faster westward motion across the deep tropical Atlantic Ocean is expected through Tuesday", the public advisory says. A subtropical storm, Leslie has maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, and is out in the middle of the Atlantic on the same latitude as SC. As it sits there for the next week or two, it is likely to eventually become tropical enough to be named.

They were among 100 people evacuated with helicopters, boats and high-wheeled military vehicles during a six-hour rescue operation in southeastern North Carolina's Bladen County that lasted into Friday morning.

Kirk will be moving over increasingly warmer waters and through a relatively low-shear environment for the next 2-3 days, which should allow for some strengthening, according to the NHC.

Off the coast of Africa, Tropical Storm Kirk hasn't strengthened much overnight, but it also hasn't weakened.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) to the north of the center of the tropical cyclone.

Subtropical Storm Leslie is not expected to be a threat to land.

"A high level of uncertainty exists with the track and development of Tropical Storm Kirk as it continues to move west".

Tropical Depression 11 formed overnight about 500 miles east of the Windward Islands and as of 8 a.m. Saturday, it was moving due west at about 5 mph.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Kirk was 465 miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands.

The low pressure area that has formed into Depression Nine has moved very little during the past several hours. The west coast sea breeze developing and mixing with the easterly winds will give us a good chance for showers during the latter part of the day.

Conditions are expected to become conducive for the low to acquire subtropical or tropical characteristics, and a subtropical or tropical cyclone is likely to form by early next week while the low meanders over the central Atlantic Ocean.
