FBI begins investigation into Brett Kavanaugh sexual assault allegations

This is why last-minute Kavanaugh concession is significant

Trump's first nominee, Judge Gorsuch, was confirmed by the Senate on April 7, 2017. "Think about them. I have two children", one of the women, Maria Archila, said. Democrats pointed to the lack of an impartial investigation and the committee's refusal to call witnesses who might be able to back up her claim, or to seek testimony from the two other women who accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, also a Republican, has likewise called for a delay in the Senate vote on Kavanaugh pending an FBI investigation.

President Donald Trump ordered the additional FBI investigation Friday at the request of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The rapid-fire events Friday came a day after dramatic, searing testimony from Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault when both were in high school, and from the nominee, who denied the allegation in an emotional presentation.

Following Flake's announcement, both Murkowski and Sen. Senators Heidi Heitkamp (ND) and Joe Manchin (WVA) may separate from their herd, too.

"I can say this whole process has affected all of us", he said.

Leland Keyser stood to be the ideal witness for Christine Blasey Ford by confirming critical events that would bolster her charges against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Through her attorneys, Ford welcomed the move.

It will be limited in scope and be completed in less than one week. Trump can afford to lose the vote of only one senator in his own party if all the Democrats vote against Kavanaugh and Vice President Mike Pence casts a tie-breaking vote.

"I've done everything they have requested and will continue to cooperate", he said.

"I am digging my heels in, and I'm hoping that a lot of conservatives are determined to vote Republican", Round said.

The move by Flake, a frequent Trump critic who is retiring from the Senate after this year, was cheered by several Democrats, including Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., to come talk in a small private room off the hearing room dais. "I want to know what happened", he said.

Mark Judge, a friend and high school classmate of Kavanaugh, is likely to be a prominent figure in any inquiry by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Kavanaugh team says Ford hasn't offered key info
Trump, speaking in NY where he was attending the United Nations General Assembly, threw his full weight behind Kavanaugh. Kennedy resigned from the Supreme Court, Koegler says Ford shared in an email that Kavanaugh was her alleged attacker.

"We have different branches of government", LePage said.

"Moments ago I walked out of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Kavanaugh", Harris tweeted after.

The fallout was huge, but despite this, Kavanaugh's confirmation appeared to be a foregone conclusion Friday morning.

"He does not have the veracity nor temperament for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in our nation", Sen. Kavanaugh said he was "100 percent sure" he is innocent. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) "explosive, volcanic floor statement that provided everybody with a real account, for once, of what is actually going on".

"They could interview someone who says I saw Judge Kavanaugh get beamed down from a UFO - he's an alien".

"I did it in solidarity with Dr Ford".

Flake, a key moderate Republican, was at the center of Friday's drama and uncertainty.

Lauren LePage, a spokeswoman for the campaign of Republican candidate Shawn Moody, also said the decision on Kavanaugh should be left to the U.S. Senate.

"This is just totally ridiculous".

Bongino said that the Senate Democrats needed a delay following Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, and Richard Blumenthal, D- CT.

Protesters on Friday were asked to wear black. Ford told The Washington Post's Emma Brown that she escaped after Kavanaugh's classmate and friend, Mark Judge, jumped on top of them, sending all three tumbling.
