India 12-man squad for 1st Test: Virat Kohli (c), KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur.

All-rounder Andre Russell was also included in the Twenty20 squad to be led by Carlos Brathwaite although he will skip the one-day series preceding the T20 matches because of an injury.

The visitors ended day two of the first Cricket Test at Rajkot with 94 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets.

Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav registered his maiden five-wicket haul in test cricket as West Indies succumbed to the guile of India's spin trio who shared the 10 second innings wickets among themselves.

Kohli also credited the exposure tours with India A and U-19 teams and the Indian Premier League (IPL) for preparing young cricketers to deal with the pressure at the highest level.

But captain Kohli warned India's notoriously demanding fans not to expect too much too soon from Shaw, who was earmarked as a future star when as a 14-year-old he hit a record 546 off 330 balls in a Mumbai school game in 2013.

No teeth in the attack, evident from the mountain of runs India piled in the only innings they batted at Rajkot; batting blues that threaten to blow up in the face and an overall downcast morale must be dragging the visitors down even as they put up courageous fronts at pre-match pressers. "I have played only four Tests, and for me it is very special to take five wickets against any side", Kuldeep said.

Kohli was out for 139 while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 100, marking the occasion with a leap in the air followed by his trademark bat-swirling celebration.

"Not the best of starts, credit to India". The tour has already kick started with the first Test in Rajkot where Windies faced an innings defeat.

Bishoo was the most "successful" bowler for West Indies although his four wickets came at a cost of 217 runs.

Rohit was in fine form during the recently concluded Asia Cup but is not a part of India's Test squad for the series against Windies.

West Indies Squad: Jason Holder (captain), Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Kraigg Brathwaite, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Jahmar Hamilton, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope (wk), Alzarri Joseph, Keemo Paul, Kieran Powell, Kemar Roach, and Jomel Warrican.
