The New York Times, citing a person familiar with the Saudi plans, reported the crown prince had approved an interrogation or abduction of Khashoggi.

"It suggests that what President Trump is hoping for is that we will be able to sweep this under the rug as some great unsolved mystery for which, therefore, no consequences will flow", said Whitson, executive director of HRW's Middle East and North Africa Division, on Monday in an interview with Cheddar.

Crude prices have surged over the last few months after the U.S. made a decision to re-impose sanctions on Iran, a major oil producer, leaving Saudi-led Opec and members of a global oil pact with the task to replace lost Iranian barrels as countries boycott Tehran for fear of falling afoul of Washington.

Khashoggi is feared to have been killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

Turkish diplomatic sources had said the consulate would be searched by a joint Turkish-Saudi team.

"He said that they are working closely with Turkey to find answer". Surveillance footage captured him entering through the consulate's main entrance, but he was never seen leaving.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is understood to be preparing a report in which it is likely to admit dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi died during an interrogation at its consulate in Istanbul, according to a media report.

But I don't think about [the abuse] because even, if that happens, being so young, maybe it affects him, maybe it doesn't. Keita has played in all eight games though only started four of them and is yet to score.

The possible curtailment of production by Saudi Arabia, which has in recent months boosted its exports to the U.S., partly in response to Mr Trump's calls to slow the oil price rally will come amid declining supply from Iran. Most experts say that probably won't happen. CBS News chief White House correspondent Major Garrett reports.

"Been hearing the ridiculous "rogue killers" theory was where the Saudis would go with this", Sen.

On Monday afternoon, CNN drew a similar picture of the Saudis' impending response, reporting that Riyadh would "acknowledge Jamal Khashoggi's death was the result of an interrogation that went wrong, one that was meant to lead to his abduction from Turkey".

Pompeo landed in Riyadh on Tuesday morning and was due to meet the king immediately to discuss the crisis surrounding Khashoggi, who vanished two weeks ago during a visit to the Istanbul consulate. However, after a telephone conversation with King Salman, US President noted that "rogue killers" could be behind the Washington Post journalist's disappearance and suspected murder. While he was passionate about the Muslim Brotherhood in his youth and appeared to have supported Osama Bin Laden in the 1980s, he later cultivated connections to Saudi power structures as a journalist-insider and served as a key source for U.S. officials in Riyadh.

The problem with that is that there's been already a lot of questions about Mohammed bin Salman. "Together we can prove our unity and that we cannot be bullied", he said in a Twitter post.

The forum will be held on October 23-25 and hosted by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

Khashoggi, a USA resident and leading critic of the Saudi crown prince, vanished after entering the consulate on October 2.

A number of states, including Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom, have expressed serious concerns over the journalist's disappearance. The Saudis hit Canada with a series of economic retaliatory measures.
