The jackpot for Friday night's Mega Millions drawing has jumped to $548 million with a cash option of $309 million.

Four tickets matched all five white balls to earn the second prize, and 37 matched four white balls and the Mega Ball for a third-place prize. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 302,575,350 to 1.

The current jackpot is the ninth largest of any US lottery.

NY has sold the most Mega Millions jackpot winnings in game history, with 35 wins in the last 16 years.

The Tuesday drawing marked the 22nd consecutive one where nobody matched all six numbers drawn, according to the lottery website.

The winning numbers for tonight are 4 - 24 - 46 - 61 - 70 and a Mega Ball of 7.

If you match a yellow ball and a white ball during tonight's drawing, then you will walk away with $4. Those winning tickets were sold in California, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The hurricane's eyewall passed directly overhead, severely damaging almost every building and leaving many a complete loss. Some barely escaped with their lives as homes were pushed off their foundations and whole neighbourhoods became submerged.

If you're looking for a tiny hint: the numbers 17 and 12 have been drawn twice as Mega Balls since August 31.

And there's always a chance a victor might stay anonymous, thanks to a recent Powerball jackpot victor in New Hampshire.

Even when a victor is eventually announced, it could still take a while before we find out their identity (if ever.) The time they have to claim their prize varies by the state.

The Mega Millions jackpot is approaching $470 million.

The Powerball drawing, set for Saturday at 10:59 p.m., has a jackpot of $314 million. They agreed to split the winnings and continue working.

And if you don't get lucky Friday night, there's still the Powerball drawing on Saturday.
